NWP Polish of the Month: January

Amanda and Brian are at it again! This year is the year of shimmer. Every month a new polish will be released, and each will have a beautiful shimmer. They have mentioned there will be unique formulations ranging from crelly to thermal to holographic and more. I can’t wait to see what shimmers are in store for us this year!

January’s polish is a beautiful mid-toned purple with a shifty shimmer that shifts from gold to green, and also has scattered holographic microglitters. This formula was opaque in two coats, and I experienced magnificent wear time with this polish. I wore this polish for 7+ days and only had minimal tip wear.

All photos shown are of 2 coats applied over KBShimmer’s “Basic Training” base coat and topped with SuperChic Lacquer’s Marvel Liquid Macro top coat. This polish was very hard to photograph, and depending on lighting will appear differently. I’m sorry my photos don’t quite capture the beauty of this polish. I did the best I could without editing my photos.

This polish will be available until 11:59pm January 31st EST on the NWP website and retails for $10. Also, be sure to follow them on Instagram for more information on upcoming sales and collections.

January Ipsy Glam Bag

Hello, lovelies!!!  Happy January to you!  My first review of 2018 will be on my January Ipsy Glam Bag.

For those of you who don’t know what Ipsy even is, its a monthly subscription bag that includes (5) beauty items ranging from skincare, hair care, beauty tools, and makeup items.  You fill out a profile that asks questions about your skin tone, hair and eye color, hair type, and beauty preferences and sends you products based on your responses.  The first few bags may not be entirely to your liking, but the more you review your products the better your bags become!

Photo of my Glam Bag products this month

My January bag consisted of this beautiful navy mesh bag with lime green and pink neon stripes.  I may use this in my gym bag to hold my facial wipes and travel toiletries.  It’s super cute!

My bag items included:

I created a look using all of my makeup products from my bag.  I think it turned out rather nicely!

My eyes were primed with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden like I always do.

Eyeshadows used: ABH Modern Renaissance Raw Sienna (transition), Cyprus Umber (crease and outer v), Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Vanilla Quartz (inner corner and under-brow highlight), DLS Sangria (all over lid), and Wet ‘n Wild eyeshadow in Crème brûlée for blending.  I completed the eye look with the Ciaté London liner, Essence Lash Princess mascara, and Ardell Natural lashes in #110.

I was very pleased with how the Vasanti brush applied Cyprus Umber to my crease and outer v.  The bristles were extremely soft, and it grabbed a lot of product with the slightest touch.  I think it blended the shade beautifully.

Face products included: Benefit Porefessional Primer, Wet ‘n Wild Photo Focus Foundation in Shell Ivory, Tarte Park Ave Princess contour palette (Carat for contour, Princess Cut for bronzer),  and Japonesque blush in #01.

Lip color: DF from Hola Neon.  The lipstick had a very liquidy consistency, but had great opacity.  It did not take long to set and it was super lightweight on the lips.  My entire face was set using Urban Decay’s All-Nighter setting spray.

First check-in, 3 hours later.

Photos at the end of 10 hours, right before removal.

After 10 hours of wear, I was very pleased with how my makeup looked.  The DLS shadow had faded, but was still there.  It just wasn’t as vibrant as I would have liked to see.  The eyeliner was still as pigmented as upon initial application and had not budged or drifted.  I loved that I could create super fine lines with this liner.  The lipstick didn’t even feel like it was there.  After eating and drinking at the party and snacking while gaming, my lips still looked bomb.  I’d say all of these products are fantastic and worth looking into.

Of all my products this month, I was most excited about the charcoal mask!  I love skincare and I am always looking for great finds that work and don’t break the bank.  This mask was so creamy and mousy.  I applied this with a flat foundation brush that has been designated as a mask brush since I began my love affair with my BeautyBlender.  A little bit of this mask goes a long way.  It felt fantastic on my skin, and did not feel overly tight as it dried down.  Removal was a breeze!  I used a moist washcloth, and it was not difficult at all.  I did not need to wet the mask first.  After removal, my skin did not feel overtly dry or tight.  All of the excess oil was removed, like all of my other charcoal masks do, but without the feeling of needing to drench my face with a nightly moisturizer well before my bedtime.  I would highly recommend this mask!

Overall, I’d say this month’s Glam Bag was a hit.  It’s not every month I get a bag that is full of products that I love and will use in its entirety.  My least favorite product would have to be the eyeshadow, but the color is gorgeous and I equate the fading to its being a metallic eyeshadow.

New Year, New Goals

It’s 2018!  Can you believe it?!  I am just in awe how time flies!  I have been neglecting my site as of late but this year I am going to change all of that.

This year, my goal is to not purchase anything unless it needs to be replaced OR only if I have purged an item or collection that I can replace with a new one.  I am trying to destash a lot of my collections so I can have a more manageable collection instead of being overwhelmed by it’s size like I am currently.

If there are any upcoming collections, looks, or skincare items you would like me to review, feel free to comment and let me know!  I will be reviewing the collections I already own as well as sharing nail art and makeup looks using products from my collection.  I am also diving in to some new skincare routines that I will be sharing my results as well as if I will continue to use them or if they weren’t worth it.

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season and are enjoying the new year!  I look forward to hearing from all of you, and sharing with you throughout this year.

It’s going to be amazing! 😘
