ChapStick Total Hydration Review

I was browsing in my local Walgreens and happened upon a display for the new ChapStick Total Hydration products. I’ve been looking for a cheaper lip scrub and spotted they had one. I’ve always loved ChapStick products since I was a kid, so I grabbed a few products to sample and review for you.

Total Hydration Moisture + Tint in shade Merlot, Total Hydration Lip Balm in Fresh Citrus, and Total Hydration Conditioning Lip Scrub in Fresh Peppermint.

The Total Hydration Conditioning Lip Scrub in Fresh Peppermint retails for $4.99. Claims to be made with “naturally sourced ingredients” and contains vitamin E and coconut oil. It already sounds promising! Packing is nice for a ChapStick brand; you get 0.27 ounces of product.

Total Hydration Conditioning Lip Scrub in Fresh Peppermint, $4.99.

The smell is SUPER intense. If you’re not a fan of peppermint, you may not enjoy this. I ended up using too much on my first application. This is very buttery (took me by surprise) but feels very rough. It did a fantastic job of exfoliating my lips. I wiped with a damp cloth, and my lips were soooo smooth! Directions say to follow up with a Total Hydration Lip Balm.

Total Hydration Natural Lip Balm in Fresh Citrus, $3.99.

I followed my exfoliation with the lip balm in “Fresh Citrus.” Packing is sleek and I like the new look. It doesn’t look like my other classic ChapSticks. This one didn’t have a smell until I started applying. It was a light citrus scent that reminded me of oranges. The packing claims to “instantly smooth and moisturize, visibly renew lips,” and is “clinically proven for healthier looking lips.” My lips did feel moisturized and they definitely felt smooth. The lip balm retails for $3.99 for 0.12 ounces.

Total Hydration Moisture + Tint in Merlot, $4.99.

The Total Hydration Moisture + Tint in “Merlot” was heavenly. It had a light berry scent (I’m assuming it’s what Merlot would smell like, but I’ve never tried it) and a sheer, dark pink leaning purple tint. Retails for $4.99 and is 0.12 ounces. It’s just as moisturizing as the natural lip balm, but I don’t think you need both. It would be nice for a “no makeup” kind of day or for the summer if you’d like just a small splash of color to your lips.

After exfoliating. I’m wearing the Total Hydration Moisture + Tint in shade Merlot.

I would get more use out of the lip balm because I would layer it over or under lipstick and liquid lipstick. Overall, I think the products a very good for being drugstore quality. You can exfoliate and moisturize for under $10! ChapStick has really stepped up their game! You can find these products at your local drugstore or at
