Jamberry Nail Polish: Tropic

I have never used a Jamberry polish before, so I figured I’d give one a try. A friend of mine sells, so I thought I’d help her business out and give an honest review of the polish.

I prepped my poor nubbins (they’re abused for nail school and an allergy to OPI Thin Set) using OPI Nail Envy and Ridge Filler to try and hide any roughness from my weakened nails.

One coat of “Tropic” Jamberry nail lacquer.

So, this is one coat.  Great pigmentation, but the formula is super thin and flooded my cuticles.  There was more clean-up then I had anticipated.  The brush is wide – definitely a great application brush – but with such a thin formula a smaller brush may have helped decrease the flooding of the nail over the base coat.

Two coats of “Tropic” Jamberry nail lacquer, and HK Girl top coat.

Two coats covered any thin spots and smoothed out the coverage.  I also found the polish stuck better to itself, so flooding wasn’t an issue on the second coat.  Dries semi-matte, so I was very pleased with the dry time; each coat took 2-3 minutes.  I wasn’t able to wrap my free edges seeing as I don’t have any, so I finished with a top coat.  I used Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

Jamberry nail lacquers retail for $15 each. For such a hefty price tag, I was expecting a better polish.  Overall, I’d say this polish is a 3/5.  Drying time, pigmentation, and the application brush helped keep my rating higher.  I may change my rating based upon the wear; I’ll edit this post in a week and insert a photo after regular wear.

Nine Zero Polish of the Month: March

March is here with all its rain making everything GREEN just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! ☘🌈💚

Shown above is two coats and one coat of Out the Door.

Jess has yet again made a beautiful polish. Quick dry time, easy application, and lots of holographic glitters. Green is my favorite color so I’m just a tad biased towards this polish. 😉

You can order this polish on Jess’ site http://www.ninezerolacquer.com for $11 plus shipping. But good news! You can order March and April’s polishes together ONLY on April 1st which will reduce shipping costs for you.

Nine Zero Polish of the Month: February

February is here and along with it comes Nine Zero’s February polish: a beautiful periwinkle holo with silver microglitters. This is my first periwinkle polish and I am in love!!!!!  Such a beautiful color!  Definitely a shade for dreary winter days as well as spring.

Two thin coats topped with one coat of Out The Door.

This polish is just like January’s; dry time is super fast, and it does dry matte.  The polish is gorgeous without top coat, but the shimmer and holo stands out more with a glossy finish.

This polish is available on http://www.ninezerolacquer.com until February 29th at 11:59pm EST.  Cost is $11 plus shipping.

This is the polish in natural light.  In typical Seattle fashion it was overcast and rainy today, so I couldn’t get a sunshine photo.

Mardi Gras Nails

I decided to do something festive for Mardi Gras this year!  I’m new at nail art, but I know with practice I’ll only get better.

KBShimmer “Right As Reign,” “I Feel Gourd-geous,” “My Life’s Porpoise”, “Kiss and Spell,” and Essie “Mojito Madness.”

I don’t have many green polishes in my stash, but this was the perfect shade to compliment my purples.  KBShimmer’s “I Feel Gourd-geous” seemed like the right combination of sheer gold to dot over the green, but opaque enough in three coats for an accent nail.

I’m not sure how I feel about this manicure, but I’m happy with my application of the polishes.  Let me know your thoughts, and feel free to share your Mardi Gras manis!

Nine Zero Polish of the Month: January

This year, Nine Zero Lacquer is releasing a monthly polish.  These polishes will be available on the 1st to 11:59pm EST on the last day of the month and will then be discontinued.

January’s polish was a beautiful berry holographic with some silver microglitters.  This polish dried matte, but a top coat will bring out the holo and shimmer of the glitters even more.  Application was a breeze, and dry time was only 3 minutes per coat!  I’m typically not a purple polish fan, but this berry is super gorgeous!  I enjoyed this polish so much that I’m still rockin’ it!

Shown here is two thin coats and one coat of KBShimmer’s Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat.
